Welcome from the Principal
Welcome to The Heath School. Growing up in Runcorn and attending The Heath School as a child, it is with great pride that I invite you to take a thorough look at our school via the website or by paying us a visit in person. We are very proud of both our school and our local community. It is my ambition for this school and its students to be the best version of itself, comparable with the very best schools and students across the country. We know that the future of Runcorn is in the hands of the children who attend our school, therefore we strive to prepare them for that challenge, both academically and socially. Each year, our students never fail to meet this challenge and move on to do amazing things, whether that be in Halton, the Northwest, the UK or overseas.
The Heath’s excellent reputation continues to grow based on the relentless hard work, commitment and passion of its staff, to improve the life opportunities for our students, overcome barriers, compete with the best and shape the future. Our students and staff, model our school values of Kindness, Integrity and Tenacity (KIT) daily making for a positive learning environment and inclusive school culture.
We are currently oversubscribed, supporting more than 1200 students. The Heath School is a truly comprehensive school that embraces students from all backgrounds. We are fully inclusive and supportive of all students in the challenges they face growing up, of which none are more difficult than the teenage years.
Our Heath Standard for Teaching is built on the latest evidence based research and best practice, observed at high achieving schools. We offer a broad and exciting curriculum which meets the demand and ambition of our students and provides them with the wider cultural capital which helps develop them into well-rounded young people. Outcomes are consistently strong for students of all ability and need, in line with or above national average. As a result, our students move on to their chosen ‘next steps’ destination, whether that be college or apprenticeship, allowing for students to move on to university or their preferred choice of career. There can be no doubt that The Heath School develops its students into respectable, reliable and dynamic young adults who are prepared for post school life.
At the core of this academic and personal development are our inclusion teams. Whether it be our incredible pastoral staff, our wonderful support staff - who predominantly support our students with SEND - or our dedicated safeguarding team, our students really are at the heart of everything we do and the support they receive from all areas is second to none.
Additionally, our extracurricular programme is vast and built around student voice. Whether you’re a keen sportsperson, thespian, artist, musician, dancer, gardener, a strategist who enjoys chess or cipher, you have an interest in STEM, or looking to boost your personal development through programmes like the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, the opportunities are there for all to take. We also offer a range of residential trips, home and abroad, including Italy, Spain and New York, each with its own focus and area of interest.
If you would like to know more about our fantastic school or come in to see us in action one day, then please do not hesitate to contact our tremendous Front of House Office Team, for whom nothing is ever too much trouble.
